Just a great app! Where the Tradfri bulbs really score though is on brightness. I can’t comment on the quality of other bulbs as I haven’t used them. [Link,Touchlink] The light should blink a few times to acknowledge the hostile takeover. They’re currently the only source of 1000 lm white bulbs. I now have three 1000 lm Tradfri bulbs in my home setup for spaces that would otherwise be too dim using Hue lights.Let’s cut to the chase….here are my steps to painless use of Tradfri bulbs with Hue.If you’d like to see these steps in action, then check out the video below which goes through all the steps.
I’ve been using iConnectHue for well over a year now and it continues to get better and better and handle my crazy smart home with ease. And when I want them to change to something different, one touch of the button is all it takes.
The short answer is yes as the Tradfri bulbs use the Zigbee system to communicate, just like Hue. The ability to create scenes, animations, etc., makes it one or two touches to have your lights do exactly what you want them to do! Change bulbs and repeat this process for the other two lights.
It allows me to do all of that and so much more. Inevitably, the question crops up… can Tradfri bulbs be used with Philips Hue?
!Anyone invested in the Philips Hue ecosystem for as long as I have has probably spent hours on end looking for the best application that just “works”.

I now have my entire house automated with the Hue lights and accessories through this app. I have bought four Ikea Tradfri 1000 lm bulbs. The systems I was looking at were going to cost $2,000-$5,000! This article runs through those steps and the included video will show them too.As a side note, the cost benefit of Ikea bulbs over Philips isn’t what it used to be, as the price of Hue bulbs, especially white, has significantly dropped in the past year or two, especially with regular 3-for-2 deals.
